Nuvera will be sharing more about our team members that shape Nuvera and work we do. In this inaugural employee profile post, Alicia Shang is sharing a bit more about her success and life outside of work

I joined Nuvera as a senior analyst after accomplishing MPH degree at Yale School of Public Health. With a rooted passion in life science, I have worked for several industry leaders in different roles across product lifecycle, including Global Regulatory Intelligence at Alcon, Sales Operations at Illumina and Marketing at GE Healthcare. I enjoy working in a team with diversity in background and experience, and always find it inspiring to interact and collaborate cross-functionally.
What behavior or personality trait do you most attribute your success to, and why? As someone who came in from a science background, I hold genuine passion on understanding drug mechanisms, disease pathology and epidemiology. These scientific facts allow me to establish a foundation on how our client’s product differentiates them from their competitors. More importantly, after researching and reading, I am able to put myself in the shoes of the patients and anticipate what they are going through. This has been very helpful while mapping out the patient journey in past projects.
What’s one thing you’re currently trying to make a habit? One privilege of working from home under quarantine is to use the 1-hour commute time on cooking dinners. I have been trying to be more creative and healthier on food choices for the past two months. That being said, I have tried 49 recipes and most of them had a good balance on nutrition intake. Still, fried chicken is allowed for cheat meals…

What’s one professional skill you’re currently working on? Being at Nuvera for almost half a year, I can see myself growing both personally and professionally with ongoing mentorship and support from the leadership. Currently, I am working closely with my manager to further develop skillset on how to actively engage with the clients and present certain pieces of the deliverables, which requires the capability to take ownership and to communicate efficiently.
If you could add one thing to Nuvera’s office, what would it be? Golden British Longhair!!! (Or any fluffy cat). I am an 101% cat person, and would dream to have a ball of fur to pet throughout a busy day. Well…the reality is, to protect our precious printed blueprints and all the cables, I guess we cannot handle a real cat in the office.
What’s the top destination on your must-visit list? Tokyo, for sure. I know there are a variety of fancy Japanese restaurants in NYC, but would like to try the most authentic Omakase in its country of origin. Besides, there are plenty of museums, art galleries, and exhibitions that I wish to visit, especially the ones related to Ukiyo-e artworks and Studio Ghibli.
